PCB self-carried keyboard

That kind of keyboard combines functions of electronic module, front plate and keyboard. Board of that printed circuit can have thickness from 1,5 to 2,5mm, which provides high formality and mechanical durability.

Most of the printed plate surface (from underside) is at the electronic circuit constructor disposal. Keyboards may have:

  • internal grounded screens that protect form the electromagnetic field influences
  • milling for LCD/LED displays
  • screws for attaching displays,mechanical elements and electronic modules

Typical construction is provided below

1 – graphical front foil

It contains printed symbols with keys description. It is brand new transparent, so it's possible to bring there effective graphics in any color. For additional aesthetic effect, keys can by embossed in the shape of rectangles, meniscus etc. Foil can be brand new dull or shiny. In the second case it's possible to use keyboard LCD displays, which lose it's readability when we are talking about dull foil.

Overprint is applied form below. When we connect that, with the hardened outer layer - it ensure abrasion high durability in the use process. In the case of shine foil, the only layer that is carry from the front side is anti-reflective dull layer hardened with UV.

3 – contact disc

It's one of two main electrical contact elements. It's made from high quality spring steel. Underside of that steel is covered by gold layer. That ensures optimum protection from corrosion and minimal resistance. Discs also have a mechanical function, so it's multiple bending resistance is crucial for contact work.

It's function is to carry electronic and to be a typical electrical circuit at the same time. Proper thickness provides formality of the keyboard. It also allows to mount screws and distance sleeves (8) that are used to fix the LCD displays, plug sockets or any other modules.

6 – electrical connector

Most popular solution is the 'gold pin' type of coupling ( pin border, one or two-line type). It's possible to use any other couplings to SMD and also protract montage. At the customer request, we can leave some of the solder fields empty as a electric lead-out or solder cable bundles with chosen coupling.

7 – LEDs

In normal cases we use ultra thin LED, which have been working successfully in many constructions. That designs are based on thin and thick laminates. When we are talking about laminates with thickness 1,5mm (and above), montage of the thru-hole elements is possible (3mm and 5mm LED, suspended module - in that case even 15mm is possible)
